Established in 2021, Amal Youth and Family Centre offers educational, social, cultural, clinical, and family-based services that support diverse communities. Rooted in the Arabic word for “hope,” Amal fosters inclusion, equity, and belonging through trauma-informed, culturally sensitive programs that empower youth and families to thrive in a welcoming, respectful environment.

CBDC Avalon West supports the creation, growth and modernization of small businesses by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs throughout the Cape Shore, Isthmus, Saint Marys Bay North and Placentia regions. The organization offers several loan options including social enterprise, general business, innovation, youth and first time entrepreneur loans. CBDC Avalon West is located at 1 OReilly Street in Placentia and welcomes inquiries about its programs and services.
Community Youth Network Placentia is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth ages 12-18 through education, employment and career development, community capacity building, support services, and recreational activities. We offer a range of programs and services that address various aspects of young people’s lives, focusing on their social, economic, physical, and mental well-being. Our initiatives provide meaningful experiences and help youth develop valuable skills through civic engagement, information and choice, volunteerism, leadership, and employment.
Genesis Employment Corporation has been operating in the Placentia area since 1997. They provide an invaluable service both to clientele and business community alike. Genesis' mandate is to find, secure and maintain employment for individuals with disabilities in the PlacentiaCape Shore catchment area through supported Employment model. genesis, and its provincial network-Supported Employment NL has been leading the way in supported employment for over 25 years. Many other provinces continually look to NL for guidance and best practices. On a local level Genesis employs 3 core staff, 15 job coaches in different places in the community and serves a client base of 60+ individuals. They are governed by a board of directors. Inclusive workplaces help to create inclusive communities.

Clients across Newfoundland and Labrador can access services free of charge through Business Advisors located in every region who are ready to travel as needed. By staying ahead of economic trends and promoting growth sectors, NLOWE provides programs and services that help women start, grow and advance their businesses with confidence.
Placentia Area Harbour Authority is a nonprofit organization that manages, operates and maintains the Jerseyside port to ensure safe and efficient access for commercial, fishing and recreational vessels. Guided by its board members, the authority oversees infrastructure upkeep, environmental protection, emergency planning and financial management to support sustainable harbour operations. It also contributes to community life through initiatives such as the annual December boat lighting display, which has become a welcomed seasonal tradition.

The Royal Canadian Legion Dr William Collingwood Memorial Branch Thirty Three in Placentia serves veterans including military and RCMP members and their families while promoting remembrance and supporting the community. The branch organizes annual Remembrance Day and Memorial Day services and operates a building on Veterans Way that includes an auditorium available for community and social events with catering options. A bar open seven days a week features a display of military artifacts, creating a welcoming space for members and visitors.
